single barrel

One barrel, unlike any other.

The conditions that surround the rum, such as the barrel, location within the warehouse and the tropical climate are what make each of our barrels unique. Our barrels are bottled uncut and unfiltered, giving you as close to the experience of tasting straight from the barrel.

8 YEAR OLD single barrel

Aged for a minimum 8 years in ex-bourbon American White Oak Barrels, with some barrels that previously held sherry. This exemplifies the full spirit of Grander.

“A strong aroma of molasses provides the anchor for the complex nose, which features aromas of peaches and brown sugar as well. The sweetness translates to the palate where the influence from the bourbon barrel is apparent. Sweet and spicy, this is a complex rum.” – Ultimate Spirits Challenge, Barrel P1772

Founder's notes

The Single Barrel. When I launched Grander, a single barrel offering was not in the plans but that changed after getting requests by numerous retailers. I am glad I did – these 8 Year Old single barrels are full of flavor and I’m always amazed how each barrel differs from the next.

TOASTED OAK SINGLE BARREL

Prior to us receiving them, these ex-Bourbon toasted barrels were used once by Kentucky distilleries to ‘finish’ their own bourbon. The barrels underwent varying degrees of toasting and barrel charring to deliver specific notes a distillery wanted to achieve. The taste can range from vanilla, caramel, butterscotch, smokiness among others. Once dumped in Kentucky, we ship to Panama and fill with aged rum to finish 6+ months in our tropical climate.

Founder's notes

Toasty.  Picking this barrel was a ‘no brainer.’ The toasted bourbon notes encapsulated in these barrels are a beautiful complement to our rum.

WHEATED SINGLE BARREL

These single barrels were used once by Kentucky distilleries to age their wheated bourbon. A wheated bourbon is a bourbon where the wheat grain replaces the rye grain in the mashbill. Once dumped in Kentucky, we ship to Panama and fill with aged rum to finish 6+ months in our tropical climate.

Founder's notes

Swheater? In a wheated bourbon, the wheat grain takes place of the rye grain. Wheat is generally softer and tends to bring out subtle sweetness and smoothness in a bourbon.

THE OAKS SINGLE BARREL

These are ex-bourbon barrels that we have sourced from a variety of Kentucky distillers. While bourbon has a strict set of rules on production, a lot of diversity can be found with these barrels due varying mashbills of bourbon and char-levels of a barrel. Some bourbons are spicy, some are sweeter, and many are in between. Once dumped in Kentucky, we ship to Panama and fill with aged rum to finish 6+ months in our tropical climate.

Founder's notes

Well, being from Kentucky, how could I not do this?
