I NEVER IMAGINED CREATING A RUM

It was supposed to be bourbon. I was born and raised in Kentucky with a love of bourbon, its heritage, transparency and taste. My view of rum was a limited one that began and ended with sweet and spiced rums. All that changed one day when I came across a rum that was neither of those. It was a rum that stood on its own – one that I could drink like a whiskey (neat, over ice or in a cocktail). Something unexpected.

A journey that took me to panama

That eventful moment sparked a desire within me to explore the world of rum where I found immense diversity. The more I learned, the more I realized that rum was my destiny. I embarked on a journey to find a distillery and after some time I landed in Panama. There I met Francisco Jose Fernandez Perez “Don Pancho”. Don Pancho was born and raised in Cuba where he learned to make rum and carried his craft to Panama where he eventually opened Las Cabras Distillery. Panama became the home for Grander, which proudly begins with Don Pancho’s beautiful rum and ends with my mark on it.

I'm on a mission to change how people think of rum

My goal is to get more people interested in good rums. We get a number of non-rum drinkers who try Grander and are astounded. We are proud to be among those that challenge the perception of rum.

My passion is this craft and every drop of Grander has my fingerprints on it.  Every batch of 8 Year Old and 12 Year Old is approved by me. I handpick every rum that goes in the Trophy Release. I select and procure every barrel that is used for Grander finishes.

I am committed to crafting a beautiful rum by being transparent and innovative with quality at the core.

Reach for something Grander and challenge your own perception of rum.
